BACKLOT: WHAT WE DID THIS YEAR

BACKLOT: WHAT WE DID THIS YEAR

RELEASES

This year we releases two singles on streaming platforms: In June we dropped out single “Patent Pending” which is a much heavier song highlighting compared to “Beef Stroganoff”. On Friday, November 14th, we are releasing our second single this year: “Something You Just Know”; which is a must lighter song compared to the previous release.

SHOWS

We played two shows to start the year off in March and April. These shows brought out a great crowd and we were able to introduce new music. After these shows we took a couple month hiatus to write new music and transition after losing our guitarist (Milo) & drummer (Brock).

Our first show back was in Normal, IL, at Lakehouse which we introduced the new Backlot with new originals; and our new guitarist (James) and drummer (Nick). We were excited to be back and seeing our fans plus new fans in the audience day one back on the scene.

With our friends help, we threw a Halloween Show at the end of October. This was a charity show raising money for the non-profit Guitars Over Guns where we ended up raising a little of $350 for. We saw over 150 people join us for this event and was honestly one of our favorite shows to play to date. This show we also started selling our demo CDs with a number of our old and newer originals plus some covers.

We played with local bands such as Notso Normal & Eating Crayons which was such a blast to get to meet them and share music along side them. We later uploaded a vlog of the night to share to our fans what was going on behind the scenes; which you can watch here!

Last Thursday, November 6th, we had the amazing opportunity to play at Battle of the Bands at Castle Theatre. We played alongside bands such as PTO, Lady Strange, No Outlet, Scarlets Darling, Dollhouse, and Miley Cypress Hill. All these bands had amazing performances which we loved seeing.

We then got to interview with student radio station, WZND, which was a great experience. We got to talk about our music and much of the meaning it has to us. Performing at the Castle, was exhilarating and makes us pumped for what is next.

Our (last) show of the year will be at Meltdown Creative Works in Normal, IL, on November 22nd. We get to play along side acts such as Motus, Mojo, Nate Lemons, Bigelow T, and special guest The Reng.

We are excited to unveil a new original we have been working on for a while as well as play, at that time, our recently release original “Something You Just Know”.

WHAT’S NEXT?

We are very excited to continue this project in 2026! We are looking to expand our horizons both show wise as well as music wise. This has begun with compiling our ideas to start forming our first LP that we plan to record and release at some point this next year.

We also are looking to travel outside the Bloomington – Normal area to share our music with new communities and people. There is plans on releasing a lot more merchandise for fans to purchase to support us and what we do 😉

At any rate, this year has been super fun and we are looking forward to the next year!!
